It's a tradition at 线上买球平台 for students to lead the way.

近十年来, a series of 线上买球平台 students have stepped forward to do a good deed for a great cause. 一开始, a 2-year-old 线上买球平台 student (now 5th grader) was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Joshua R, an eager 5th grade student (now a college freshman) decided he wanted to host a St. Baldrick在线上买球平台学校的活动. 他召集了一群朋友, and with support from a few key adult volunteers, created CKCKC (线上买球平台 Kids Conquer Kids Cancer). 

自从它成立以来, three different CKCKC student-leaders have collectively raised over $500,000 in support of childhood cancer research. 多年来, students as young as Kindergarten, 教员, and parents have all stepped forward to shave their heads or donate their ponytails. CKCKC demonstrates what can be accomplished in a student-initiated service effort for meaningful change in our world.

After a summer camp sleepover experience last year, parent Johna H shared this story:

“I remember wondering how he’d interact with other kids, imagining tougher-edged city kids, bully kids who didn’t get to grow up in peace-love-and conflict-skills-management bubble that is his idyllic little school. In short, I thought about what I/we/it HADN’T prepared him for.

而不是, he was in a cabin with 9 other boys, one of whom (according to J) had some issues at bedtime and throughout the night. J shared this with me as part of his explanation for not sleeping well at camp.

My first response was to be frustrated for him. But that wasn’t his point, he insisted. He acknowledged the situation was less than ideal, but went on to remind me to think about how hard it was for that boy. 然后他告诉我, 带着温柔的骄傲, that two separate camp counselors thanked him for the way he dealt with the situation, and with other boys in the cabin who were not being as sensitive.

Here I was focused on the things his school and upbringing hadn’t prepared him for… ”

线上买球平台 students demonstrate their commitment to sustainability practices by being stewards of the Earth. 

可持续性 is a core value of Montessori philosophy, emphasizing wise choices to protect our health, 生物, 和地球. Through our comprehensive education on the science and moral responsibility of sustainability, students can actively practice this vital lifestyle. Students actively participate in litter pick-ups, like a recent family-focused event hosted by 线上买球平台 可持续性 Coordinator Lauren Cathcart. One group walked to nearby Greenwood Beach while interested students enrolled in the after school program focused their attention on the Currey Park playground. Practicing care of the environment starts in the 蹒跚学步的 program, so it was a natural choice for 小学 students and their families.
